About

U-report is a free SMS-based tool for community participation designed to address issues Ghanaians care about. SMS polls and alerts are sent to U-reporters and real-time response information is collected. Results and ideas are shared back with the community and government. Some issues polled include teenage pregnancy, sexual reproductive rights, open defecation, education, youth unemployment, HIV/AIDS, disease outbreaks, child marriage, violence towards children, cyberbullying, child online protection etc.

Registration is free for all users across the following networks: AT Ghana, MTN and Telesel.

U-Report relies on you as a U-Reporter to provide information on issues in your communities. It allows you to speak out on what is happening in your communities, provides a 24/7 platform to amplify your voices through local and national media, and sends that information to relevant government departments for their action, planning and information. It is an opportunity to access relevant information that enables you to work for change and improvements in your community.

U-Report is a UNICEF Innovation. Ghana is the 47th country to join the launch and use U-Report.

PRIVACY POLICY

Individual messages shared by U-Reporters are confidential, but poll results are open for all to access. Information received can be disaggregated by age, gender, and location and is used to connect people from various backgrounds with their representatives, improve UNICEF programmes and draw attention to urgent issues with the government. NGOs, Civil Society Organizations and leaders can access information from the site and understand what young people are concerned about and what they need.

Registration is voluntary and U-Reporters incur no costs. As U-Reporters provide information on issues in their communities, they also receive important information and alerts on international issues.
