U-Report
Ghana partnered the Career Guidance and Counselling Centre of the University of
Ghana to organize a week-long career fair for students of the university from
the 26th February to 1st March 2019.
The
week-long program was organized to create the opportunity for students to
engage with experts from diverse work backgrounds and to enable them explore
internship and job opportunities. U-Report Ghana participated to share the
benefits of the platform and its relevance for young people.
At
the global business summit event which took place on the first day, U-Report
champion, Erica Ehiamah, engaged the participants on the U-Report initiative.
She shared how the tool is creating opportunities for young people to share
their opinions and perspectives on issues that affect them. U-Report champions participated
in the week long career fair, engaging more students on how to join the
platform to have their voices featured in decision making. The initiative was
received with a lot of enthusiasm since such engagement opportunities for young
people are rare.
The
career fair also presented students the opportunity to engage with experts like
Regina Honu of Soronko Solutions and Tara Squire who shared with students some emerging
trends in the world of work and how young people must prepare to be able to
excel in the face of these new changes.
It
was a week of great exposure for the students. U-Report continues to create
pathways for young people to engage for positive impact.
